Two impaired drivers charged by L&A OPP

On the same day, two people were arrested and charged by the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) due to impaired driving.

Both incidents occurred on Saturday, Oct. 12, the L&A OPP reported on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019.

The first incident occurred at approximately 4 a.m. that day, when officers on general patrol observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on County Road 2 west of County Road 4. The officers were able to stop the vehicle on County Road 2 at County Road 6 in Odessa, where they observed the driver had been drinking.

As a result, 22-year-old Brody Blaskie of Kingston was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired (alcohol and drugs)
  • Operation of a motor vehicle while over the legal blood alcohol limit.

Additionally, Blaskie’s licence was suspended and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. Blaskie will be responsible for all related fees and fines.

Blaskie was released on a promise to appear and is sheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee later this month.

Much later in the day, officers from the same OPP detachment responded to a report of a vehicle being driven erratically on County Road 2 west of Odessa. The officers intercepted the vehicle on Highway 401 westbound, west of Odessa in Loyalist Township. There, officers determined that the driver was impaired, and she was subsequently arrested.

As a result, Tiffany Winfrey, 27, of Greater Napanee, was charged with:

  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired (alcohol and drugs)
  • Operation of a motor vehicle while over the legal blood alcohol limit.

Additionally, Winfrey’s licence was suspended, and her vehicle was impounded for seven days. She will be responsible for all related fees and fines.

Winfrey was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee later this month.
