Two charged after trying to drop contraband at Collins Bay Institution

A man from Ottawa and a woman from Gatineau, Quebec have been charged following an incident at Collins Bay Institution on the night of Sunday, Jul. 26.

According to Kingston Police, officers at Collins Bay observed a vehicle trespassing on the property at approximately 8:55 p.m. The male suspect exited the vehicle near the penitentiary wall and attempted, unsuccessfully, to throw two bags over.

Police say correctional officers intercepted the vehicle as it was exiting the premises. The man and a woman inside the vehicle were both apprehended and held until police arrived. Police say the two bags were recovered, and both contained contraband and a quantity of controlled substance.

Both suspects were charged with trespassing at a penitentiary, delivering contraband to an inmate, and drug related charges.
