Two charged after OPP thwart break and enter in Greater Napanee

When officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a Break and Enter in progress at a building on County Road 8 in Greater Napanee, they caught two suspects in the act.

Police arrived at the scene of the reported Break and Enter at approximately 1:30 a.m., on Monday, Nov. 29, 2021, and located two suspects inside the building. According to a release from OPP, both suspects were arrested without incident and transported to detachment for processing. Police seized break-in tools and a small amount of suspected fentanyl from the scene.

L&A County OPP have charged Richard Charles Matthew Peterbaugh age 42, Quinte West, with:

  • Break and Enter;
  • Possession of Break in Instruments;
  • Theft;
  • Fail to Comply with Probation; and
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance.

Also charged is Richard Allan MacDonald, age 51, of Belleville with:

  • Break and Enter;
  • Possession of Break in Instruments; and
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance.

MacDonald was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee in January 2022.  

Peterbaugh was held for a bail hearing and was to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee today, Dec. 1, 2021.
