Two charged after drugs, weapons seized in Picton

Two Prince Edward County residents have been charged after OPP seized drugs and weapons while executing a search warrant.

In a media release, OPP reported that on Thursday, Mar. 21, 2024, a search warrant was executed in Picton on Nery Avenue with the assistance of the East Region Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit.

“As a result of the warrant, officers seized a firearm, a prohibited device, ammunition and a quantity of suspected cocaine,” the media release states.

Thomas McCumber, age 34, and Amber Rodgers, age 28, both from Prince Edward County, were charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon

Charges have not been proven in court.

Both individuals were held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice on Friday, Mar. 22, 2024.
