Two arrested, drone seized near Collins Bay Institution

Two individuals from Quebec have been arrested and charged after police intercepted a drone shipment of contraband at Collins Bay Institution, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
At approximately 4 a.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 24, 2020, members of the OPP-led Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad, Kingston Police, and the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) responded to suspicious activity near Collins Bay Institution. Officers located a drone and arrested two individuals in the area, and CSC officials recovered a package within the walls of the Institution. Police seized the drone, as well as the contents of the package, which included cannabis, cellphones, weapons, tobacco, and other contraband items.
As a result, two individuals from Sainte Anne des Plaines, Quebec have been charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with mischief (under section 430 of the CC). Their names cannot be released at this time, according to the OPP.
The investigation by members of the Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad, Kingston Police, and CSC remains ongoing at this time under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
