Two arrested after causing mischief to a business and obstructing police

Kingston Police arrested and charged two individuals who gave police false names after damaging property in Kingston’s north end.
At approximately 12:38 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, Kingston Police received a complaint that the two accused parties were causing mischief to a restaurant in the area of Division Street and Dalton Avenue.
According to a release from Kingston Police, officers arrived at the scene and located the accused parties who matched the descriptions provided by the complainant. Both accused parties proceeded to obstruct police by providing false names.
Further investigation revealed that the two had caused extensive damage to the rooftop of the restaurant as well as various signage located on the property, police said. Damage to the restaurant as well as the surrounding property was estimated at over $5,000.
The true identity of both accused parties was eventually learned and police said that both were arrested at approximately 12:50 a.m. Both accused were subsequently transported to police headquarters where they were later released on conditions with a future court date.
A 17-year-old local youth was charged with causing mischief over $5,000 and obstructing a peace officer.
An 18-year-old local individual was charged with causing mischief over $5,000 and obstructing a peace officer.
