Two arrested after Amherstview break and enter

A man and woman from Loyalist Township are facing multiple charges after the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested the pair in connection to a break and enter in Amherstview.

Officers from the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the OPP responded to the report of a break and enter on Thursday, May 23, 2019. The incident occurred at a residence on Manitou Crescent West, and the thieves stole electronics and currency, but were no longer on the scene when police arrived.

As a result of the subsequent investigation, two suspects were identified, according to the L&A County OPP. Cody Allen Thibeault, 33, of Amherstview, and Brandy Lee Gallagher, 41, of Loyalist Township were arrested by the OPP the same day as the incident. Both are charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Break and enter
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Making a false statement in writing with intent to cash a cheque

Both parties were also charged under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act with:

  • Possession of a Schedule One substance: Heroin
  • Possession of a Schedule One substance: Methamphetamine

Gallagher was also charged with failure to comply with probation under the Criminal Code.

Both accused parties were held for a bail hearing and appeared today, Friday, May 24, 2019, in the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee.
