$54,000 grant allows Trillium Gymnastics Club to reopen safely

Trillium Gymnastics Club, a local not for profit organization, has received a grant from Employment and Social Development Canada and the Canadian Red Cross, states a press release from the Trillium Gymnastics Club, dated Thursday, Sept. 10, 2020.

The amount received, $54,227.50, will help Trillium provide children and youth the opportunity to safely return to gymnastic activities that promote social inclusion post COVID-19, according to the release. Trillium Gymnastics Club will become better equipped to meet COVID-19 safety procedures to enable physical distancing, and increase cleaning requirements in order to mitigate risks from COVID -19.

Trillium says this grant money will be used in three specific areas: to purchase foggers for the disinfecting solutions required clean all touch surfaces and gym spaces; for new gymnastic equipment with safer, non-porous surfaces for the participants to use will be purchased; and finally, with the limited number of participants allowed indoors, Trillium will now be able to purchase a family friendly app and required equipment, which will allow Trillium families to be able to view their gymnast from an electronic device.

Trillium Gymnastics Club says “We are thrilled to be a recipient of these funds and look forward to expanding our abilities to provide physical and social activities for children and youth in Kingston.”
