Trespassing woman becomes belligerent, resists arrest, spits in officer’s face

A local woman is facing three charges after residents called Kingston Police when she was trespassing in the north end of the city.

At approximately 6:20 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2018, police were called to a Montreal Street address due to a woman trespassing. The accused woman was seen entering the backyard of a residence there, but left prior to police arriving. While officers spoke with witnesses, the accused was seen walking on Montreal Street.

An office drove up to speak with the woman, and she began running. The officer then pulled up beside her a second time and exited the cruiser. At that time, the accused woman suddenly just sat down on the ground, and became immediately belligerent with the officer, screaming and yelling. The officer cautioned the woman about causing a disturbance, but the she refused to calm down.

The accused woman was placed under arrest, but resisted. Once handcuffed, the woman spat in one of the officers face.

The 42-year-old Kingston woman is charged with causing a disturbance, assaulting a police officer, and breach of probation.
