Traffic stop on Highway 401 results in drug and weapons charges

Three individuals – two from Kingston and one from Napanee – are facing charges after a traffic stop on Highway 401 ended resulted in police locating weapons and controlled substances.

The traffic stop took place near kilometre marker 557 near Napanee at approximately 8 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2020. An investigation ensued, and members of the Lennox and Addington County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located and seized two replica handguns. The officers also located quantities of controlled substances, including crystal methamphetamine and cocaine.

As a result, the three individuals in the vehicle were charged.

Sydney Barbara Henderson, 19, of Kingston has been charged with:

  • Trafficking a Schedule 1 substance – methamphetamine (crystal meth)
  • Trafficking a Schedule 1 substance – cocaine
  • Trafficking a Schedule 1 substance – other drugs
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes

Adrien Verissimo, 18, of Kingston has been charged with:

  • Trafficking a Schedule 1 substance – methamphetamine (crystal meth)
  • Trafficking a Schedule 1 substance – cocaine
  • Trafficking a Schedule 1 substance – other drugs
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes

Warren Jay Yeatman, 24, of Napanee has been charged with:

  • Trafficking a Schedule 1 substance – methamphetamine (crystal meth)
  • Trafficking a Schedule 1 substance – cocaine
  • Trafficking a Schedule 1 substance – other drugs
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes

All three of the accused parties are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee in July.
