Traffic stop on 401 in Kingston leads to drug, weapon charges

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers, along with the Kingston Police Service, performed a traffic stop on Highway 401 in the City of Kingston, and located drugs, as well as a prohibited handgun and ammunition in the vehicle.

Shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021, OPP stopped the vehicle for speeding on Highway 401, OPP said in a release. As a result of the investigation Bryan Morgan, age 35 of Gatineau, is facing multiple charges as listed below:

  • Carry Firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
  • Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm X2
  • Possession of Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by Crime
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order X4
  • Carrying concealed weapon
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Possession of Prohibited device or ammunition for Dangerous Purpose
  • Counterfeiting mark – possess X2
  • Possession of an identity document X2
  • Possession of a credit card X2
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
  • Speeding 1 – 49 Km/h over posted limit
  • Colour coating obscuring interior

Morgan was held for bail and their vehicle was towed, according to OPP.
