Traffic delays expected due to fire on Highway 7 west of Kaladar

Earlier today, the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a fire on Highway 7 just west of Kaladar to assist the Fire Department with traffic control.
According to a media release, at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Apr. 12, 2023, the L&A OPP responded with the Addington Highlands Fire Department and Stone Mills Fire Department to the structure fire, which quickly spread to a grass fire due to high winds. Police said that the grass fire spread approximately 200 meters east of the residence.

The OPP said that the grass fire is currently under control and both fire departments are working on extinguishing the structure fire. Highway 7 is currently down to one lane and drivers should expect traffic delays in that area.
L&A County officers remain on scene (as of 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Apr. 12, 2023) with the Addington Highlands Fire Department and Stone Mills Fire Department, and are asking motorists to use caution and have patience as the fire department makes the scene safe, according to the release. The roads will be fully re-opened once the Fire Department is satisfied that the “hot spots” are contained.
