A traffic complaint on County Road 14 led to charges for a driver from Prince Edward County yesterday, Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023.

According to a media release, members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the reported traffic complaint around 7 p.m. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on County Road 6, police explained.

The OPP said that, while speaking with the driver an approved screening device that detects the presence of alcohol on the breath was administered. As a result, the driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.

Kailesh Gulrajani, age 32, from Prince Edward County, was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol/drugs
  • Failure or refusal to comply with a demand
  • Driving a vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

According to the OPP, Gulrajani was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice later this month.

The OPP would like to thank everyone for remaining vigilant to impaired drivers.

“Should you suspect someone to be driving impaired, call 911,” the OPP stated.
