‘Touch-a-Truck’ this weekend in Napanee

The Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment Auxiliary Unit are hosting a Touch-a-Truck event on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021.
The vehicles and equipment used by emergency services and public works staff often serve as the ‘offices’ for the people who use them, OPP said in a release dated Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2021. Curiosity about what it’s like to operate one of these vehicles can exist, especially for kids. The L&A County OPP Auxiliary Unit is hosting an event that will help children and adults alike get a hands-on experience to help satisfy that curiosity.
From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. the public can visit the Strathcona Paper Centre in Greater Napanee to see, and touch, a variety of vehicles. This outdoor event will feature displays of numerous OPP, Greater Napanee Fire Department, L&A County Paramedics and Greater Napanee Public Works vehicles and equipment, according to the release.
While admission to this event is free of charge, the OPP Auxiliary will be collecting donations of non-perishable food items that will be donated to the Morningstar Mission to help combat food insecurity in the community.
OPP note that this event will be operated under strict COVID-19 protocols. Attendees will be asked to sign-in for contact tracing purposes, maintain physical distancing and wear a face covering (as appropriate) when in or around the vehicles and equipment.
