Toronto man arrested on highway 401 near Napanee

Lennox and Addington County OPP have charged a Toronto man with six separate counts, after he was stopped on the Eastbound highway 401 near Napanee on Wednesday, March 17, 2021.

According to an OPP press release from the same day, Police say their officers observed a vehicle with a heavily-tinted driver’s side window and promptly initiated a traffic stop just before the Napanee exit.

During the traffic stop, police seized a Taser, bear spray, a passport and approximately 39,000.00 cash in Canadian cash.

Jean Gardy Laine, 30, of Toronto is charged with one count of possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime, three counts of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, one count of Possession of a prohibited device as well as Possession of an identity document.
