Three people facing drug trafficking charges after arrests in Napanee

Officers with the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested three people in the Town of Greater Napanee.

According to the L&A OPP, the arrests came during the execution of search warrant at an address on Meadow Lane in Napanee on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. Police did not disclose what time of the day the search warrant was executed.

Members of the L&A OPP Community Street Crime Unit executed the warrant and located and seized quantities of suspected cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, and benzodiazepine tablets, according to a press release. Police also noted that “paraphernalia associated with drug trafficking, cellphones, and Canadian currency” were also seized.

As a result, 40-year-old Barbara Norman of Napanee, 21-year-old Rebecca Norman-Hill of Napanee, and 39-year-old Kaila Peets of Amherstview were arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine

Additionally, Norman-Hill has charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drugs
  • Failure to comply with a probation order.

According to the OPP, Norman-Hill was held in custody pending a bail hearing, while Norman and Peets were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee in early July.
