Three charged with stunt driving on Highway 401 over the weekend

Three drivers travelling on Highway 401 over the weekend have had their vehicles impounded and licenses suspended after the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) clocked them all at more than 50 km/h over the speed limit.

The first driver was observed travelling 157 km/h on Highway 401 westbound by Palace Road, at approximately 10 p.m. on Saturday, Apr. 1, 2023, according to a release from the OPP.

As a result, a 29-year-old male, from Scarborough, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Stunt driving (driving at excessive speed)

A few hours later, at approximately 3 a.m. on Sunday, Apr. 2, 2023, OPP officers observed a vehicle travelling 181 km/hr in the same area.

As a result, a 21-year-old male, from Brampton, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Stunt driving (driving at excessive speed)

And approximately 12 hours later, around 3:30 p.m., officers observed a vehicle travelling 171 km/h in the eastbound direction on Highway 401 by County Road 41.

As a result, a 54-year-old male, from Brockville, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Stunt driving (driving at excessive speed)

All accused are scheduled to appear at the Provincial Offences Court in Greater Napanee at a later date. All accused had their licenses suspended for 30 days, and vehicles were impounded for 14 days.

“The OPP is committed to safety for all who utilize Ontario’s roadways,” OPP said, noting that members of the public are urged to report stunt driving, aggressive driving, or careless driving by calling 1-888-310-1122.

    I’m upset that I have to try to log in to read complete articles even though I’m a subscriber. Sometimes when I try to log in I get sent right back to the log in page. Isn’t there a simple way for you to identify those of us who are paying, so that we will be allowed to read these articles in full without having to log in for each one?

    Interesting. It would be good to know what were the vehicles, and did the drivers have an accident-free record
