Three charged after driver flees police

Three people have been arrested after a driver fled OPP from a traffic stop. On the morning of April 17th, 2021, Leeds County OPP officers witnessed a vehicle in transit without a read license plate. Police say after a brief traffic stop, the driver fled the area with the occupants in the vehicle as well.
“A short while later officers received a complaint from a member of the public reporting a suspicious vehicle, matching the description on Lower Oak Leaf Road, east of Lyndhurst,” an OPP news release stated.
Police say the vehicle was located and that all three occupants were arrested.
30-year-old Joshua Pero of Kingston is facing six separate charges as a result of the incident, including possession of methamphetamine, operating a vehicle while impaired and resisting a peace officer.
The two other occupants, a 36-year-old and a 20-year-old — both from Kingston — were charged under the Highway Traffic Act, and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, respectively.
