Three athletes with Kingston Gymnastics bring home medals

Three Level Six gymnasts from Kingston Gymnastics Club returned to Kingston with a little more weight than they left with, thanks to the medals they earned at the season’s first qualifier competition.

The Kingston gymnasts travelled to Pickering, Ont. for the weekend of Saturday, Dec. 7 and Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019 for the ‘Winter Classic’ competition hosted by AIM Gymnastics.

Lena Stasak, 14, won gold on bars with a score of 9.425, bronze on vault, and was also the all around silver medalist for her category.

Gracie McDonell scored a 9.25 on beam, earning her the bronze medal, and Kailyn Amey also brought home a bronze medal for her beam routine that scored a 9.425.

The Winter Classic brought together over 200 athletes in Level Six, Seven and Eight gymnastics for the two-day competition .

“Congratulations Lena, Gracie, and Kailyn on a job well done at your first qualifier of the season!” said Paige Groot, Senior Administrator for Kingston Gymnastics Club.
