Thirteen-year-old charged after violent incident

The hill near the intersection of Centre Street and Water Street in Greater Napanee, from which OPP say a thirteen-year-old girl threw a bicycle and boulders at another girl, injuring her.

Lennox & Addington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a 13-year-old female with Assault With A Weapon and Mischief after an altercation in downtown Napanee.

“On July 25, 2023 just after 4:00 p.m., officers …received a call that a group of male and female youths were attempting to steal a bicycle from another youth,” OPP said in a press release.

“While police were responding, police dispatch updated members that one of the females in the group had thrown the stolen bike at the victim from the top of the hill near the Water Street and Centre Steet intersection, before proceeding to throw boulders striking the victim multiple times.”

According to OPP, witnesses from a local nearby restaurant rushed to assist the victim and scared away the group of youths.

“Police and ambulance were on scene quickly to assist the victim who required medical attention. After multiple witness interviews police did locate and charged the youth responsible for this incident,” OPP said.

The accused Greater Napanee resident was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on a later date, according to OPP.
