Thieves cut sleeping man’s pants to steal wallet

A night of drinking ended with a rude awakening when a Kingston man awoke to find his pants had been cut and his wallet stolen.

On Friday, Jul. 13, 2018, the victim went out with his friends in the downtown core. After a night of drinking, the victim fell asleep in the lobby of an apartment building on Queen Street. When he woke up, the victim found that the front pocket of his pants had been cut out and his wallet was gone.

Soon after, the victim realized his debit card had been used at a nearby store and contacted police. Kingston Police detectives obtained video surveillance footage from the store, and we able to identify the two men associated with using the stolen card.

On Wednesday, Sept. 26, both men were arrested. A 23-year-old local man is charged with theft, using a stolen credit card, and breach of probation. A 28-year-old local man is charged with theft and using a stolen credit card.
