The Santa Claus Parade came to town this past weekend, bringing with it the spirit of the season to keep parade-goers warm as flurries made for a veritable snow globe in downtown Kingston.

Organized annually by the Downtown Kingston Business Improvement Area (BIA), this year’s Nighttime Santa Claus Parade was reportedly the largest to ever fill the downtown core, with nearly 90 organizations and businesses creating floats, music, dance routines, and light displays. This brought thousands of Kingstonians of all ages to line Princess Street, from Innovation Park all the way to Kingston City Hall, where the City of Kingston’s giant tree overlooking Springer Market Square was lit up for the season following the parade.

From local firefighters, police, and paramedics, to dance troops, the local libraries, and dozens of local businesses, Kingston was represented in many different ways throughout the parade. Here, we offer a look back at some of the big, bright, and festive floats, participants, and attendees from the 2022 Nighttime Santa Claus Parade.

For those who were unable to attend the parade in person, a livestream of the events was provided on the Kingstonist Facebook page, which can be viewed again at any time. And if you want to see Santa’s arrival in the Limestone City, you’ll have to watch the video to hear the delighted cheering of those young and old as the jolly man in red takes a ride in his sleigh down Princess Street.
