The Tragically Hip Way in front of the Leon’s Centre in downtown Kingston will be closed for hour-long blocks in the evenings most days this week.

Beginning today, Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2020, the street – which runs from Ontario Street to King Street East – will be closed from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., and 9:30 to 10:30 p.m. each day this week except Friday, Mar. 6, 2020.

The temporary closures will facilitate pedestrian crossing during the 2020 Tim Hortons Brier. Directly across the street from the Leon’s Centre, the Brier Patch has been set up in the Frontenac Parking Lot, giving curling fans a place to come together between sets and enjoy a variety of different events and amenities, including a concession stands, a licenced area, and live music.

Access will be managed as needed to the accessible pick-up and drop-off area on The Tragically Hip Way during these one-hour closures. All accessible event parking will remain in place.

Then, a full street closure will come into effect from Friday, Mar. 6, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. until Sunday, Mar. 11, 2020 at 11 p.m. During this closure, an alternate accessible event pick-up and drop-off area will be in place on Barrack Street.
