Suspended driver charged with drug possession, breaching probation

A local man was arrested for driving under suspension, and subsequently charged with drug possession and breaching probation.

At approximately 1 p.m. on Friday Dec. 11, 2020, police, while on general patrol, observed the male accused driving a motor vehicle in the area of College Street in Kingston. According to a police report, dated Monday Dec. 14, 2020, officers recognized the accused from previous interactions and were aware that he was currently a suspended driver.

Police say they initiated a traffic stop on Princess Street and arrested the accused for multiple counts of driving while under suspension. Officers also observed, and subsequently seized, a bag of suspected crystal methamphetamine, located in plain sight, in the centre console of the vehicle, according to the report.

The accused was then transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing at a later date.

A 33-year-old Kingston man was charged with unlawful possession of a schedule 1 substance, two counts breach probation and two counts of driving while under suspension.
