Stranger who assaulted man walking on street arrested

A 47-year-old local man has been arrested after he assaulted a pedestrian on Montreal Street – and was found to be the suspect in assault later that same day.
As reported on Friday, Oct. 5, 2018, a woman waiting at a bus stop on Montreal Street the day before was assaulted by a stranger who charged at her and punched her in the ear.
Earlier that day, a different victim was walking north along Montreal Street at approximately 6 p.m. when he was suddenly assaulted by a stranger. The accused man approached the victim and punched him in the face, without provocation. The victim fell to the ground and the accused man walked away, according to a press release from Kingston Police.
The detective investigating the assault of the pedestrian found that the ‘stranger’ in both cases were very similar. The suspect in the assault at the bus stop had already been identified, arrested and charged, and the detective was able to confirm that male was the same person involved in the incident with the pedestrian. The suspect was located again and arrested. He is charged with assault.
