Stabbing on Rideau St sends one to hospital

Kingston Police are investigating a stabbing on Rideau St near Montreal St this afternoon.

Eyewitnesses say they saw three youths appearing to be in their mid-teens congregating near the car wash on Rideau St. shortly before 3:30p.m. Soon after, witnesses say they heard yelling a few minutes later and a fight ensued. Shortly afterwards, a youth was seen in front of a nearby home, bleeding from a stab wound, sitting against a wall briefly before collapsing. A nearby resident called 911.

Kingston Police on scene say it was not a random act but are not confirming any other details, except to say that one person has been taken to hospital.

Rideau St just south of Montreal St remained closed to all but local residents until about 6:30 p.m.
