Women’s Rugby Team takes national silver and other Gaels happenings

It was another busy weekend for the Queen’s Gaels as 10 teams competed at home and away from Friday, Nov. 1 to Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019.

The Women’s Rugby Team capped off their incredible season to bring home the silver medals from the USPORT Women’s Rugby Championship on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019. The women fought hard against the Laval Rouge et Or, but were defeated 22-14 at the Matt Anthony Field at the University of Ottawa.

The Men’s Rugby Team took down the Brock Badgers in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) semifinal, and will host the OUA Championship right here in Kingston next weekend. On top of that, the Men’s Volleyball Team had some outstanding results at their home opener, both Basketball Teams secured wins, the Women’s Hockey Team won in a shootout against Laurier, and the Men’s and Women’s Rowing Teams placed fifth and sixth respectively at the Canadian University Rowing Championship.

WOMEN’S RUGBY – Gaels battle with Laval, finish as U SPORTS silver medalists
OTTAWA (U SPORTS) – In the final game of the U SPORTS Women’s Rugby Championship, the Laval Rouge et Or defeated the Queen’s Gaels by a score of 22-14 at Matt Anthony Field at the University of Ottawa to win the gold medal.

MEN’S RUGBY – Gaels take down Brock in OUA semifinal, will host OUA Championship next weekend
KINGSTON, Ont. (November 2, 2019) – The Queen’s Gaels (1-0) had little trouble getting past the Brock Badgers (1-1) in the OUA semifinal on Saturday afternoon with a 61-21 win at Nixon Field.

ROWING – Men 5th, women 6th at Canadian University Rowing Championship
ELK LAKE, BC. (November 3, 2019) – The Queen’s Gaels rowing team competed at the Canadian University Rowing Championship this past weekend, earning three silver medals.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL – Gaels fall in straight sets against Brock, go five sets with McMaster
KINGSTON, Ont. (November 2nd, 2019) The Queens Gaels (2-2) fell in straight sets to the Brock Badgers (4-0) to round out their home weekend at the ARC.

KINGSTON, Ont. (November 1st, 2019) No.7 Queens Gaels (1-2) defeated the No. 4 McMaster Marauders (2-1) in straight sets in their home opener on Friday night.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY – Gaels come from behind and knock off Warriors in shootout, shutout Laurier
KINGSTON, Ont. (November 2nd, 2019) The Gaels (4-2) defeated the Waterloo Warriors (4-2) in the shootout at the Memorial Centre on Saturday night.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL – No.5 Gaels defeat Ontario Tech 98-64, fall to Guelph in home opener
OSHAWA, Ont. (November 3, 2019) – The No. 5 Queens Gaels (3-1) took down the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks (0-3) 98-64 in their second game of the weekend.
