Records, medals, and upset wins: this past week of Gaels’ action

The past week has been rather busy for the Queen’s Gaels, with teams bringing home medals, coaches receiving awards, and exciting last-minute wins. Here’s what the Golden Gaels have been up to:

MEN’S HOCKEY – Abraham breaks record, Gaels tie all-time win mark in season finale victory over McGill, Queen’s and RMC set record Carr-Harris Cup Attendance

KINGSTON, Ont. (February 9, 2019) – The Queen’s Gaels (19-9-0) clinched the 3rd seed in the OUA East with a 6-3 win over the No.10 McGill Redmen (16-7-4).

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL – Gaels bounce-back effort topples No.8 Ravens on Seniors Night

KINGSTON, Ont. (February 9th, 2019) – The Queen’s Women’s Basketball Team (13-8) knocked off the No.8 Carleton Ravens (16-5) 74-70 on seniors night Saturday at the ARC – Main Gym.

MEN’S BASKETBALL – Gaels knock off No.6 Gee-Gees in OT thriller, fall to No.2 Ravens

KINGSTON, Ont. (February 8th, 2019) – The Queen’s Men’s Basketball Team (11-9) knocked off the No.6 Ottawa Gee-Gees (13-7) 78-75 in overtime on Friday night at the ARC – Main Gym.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY – Gaels split week, win big in school day game

KINGSTON, Ont. (February 7, 2019) – The Queen’s Gaels (13-8-1-0) scored a late goal off the stick of Hannah De Coutere to defeat the UOIT Ridgebacks (9-12-1-1) 4-3 on Thursday afternoon in a school day game matchup.

SWIMMING – Steven Lee picks up a pair of silvers as men finish 6th and women 8th at OUA swimming championship

St. Catharines, Ont. – Veteran men’s swimmer Steven Lee picked up his second medal of the weekend during the OUA Swimming Championships at Brock University on Saturday.

MEN’S FENCING – Epee team takes silver, Gaels coach Rodney Carter named coach of the year at OUA men’s fencing championship

The Queen’s Gaels finished with a fifth place overall finish as the 2019 OUA men’s fencing championship wrapped up on Sunday evening (Feb. 10) at the University of Toronto’s Athletic Centre Field House.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL – Gaels nab four-set victory over cross-town rival RMC

KINGSTON, Ont. (February 8, 2019) – The Queen’s Gaels (10-6) extended their winning streak to three games with a 3-1 set victory over their cross-town rival RMC Paladins (0-16).
