South Frontenac woman arrested for theft of gas, assaulting police

A woman from South Frontenac Township is facing charges after a gas theft early this morning in Napanee, according to the Lennox and Addington (L&A) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Officers from the L&A Detachment responded to a theft of gas investigation at a gas station on Highway 41 in Napanee at 4:24 a.m. on Friday, Apr. 12, 2019. Their investigation found that the driver of the suspect vehicle was a suspended driver who did not have a valid driver’s licence. Additionally, during the investigation, the accused woman physically assaulted an OPP officer.

As a result, Natasha Elizabeth Scott, 27, of South Frontenac Township has been charged with theft under $5,000, and assaulting a police officer. Scott also faces two provincial charges for driving while under suspension. Her vehicle was impounded for seven days, and Scott will be responsible for all related fees and fines. She was later released from police custody with bail conditions and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Tuesday, May 14, 2019.
