South Frontenac driver facing charges after afternoon pursuit

A member from the Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) identified an unlicensed driver on Battersea Road in the City of Kingston on Friday, Dec. 17, 2021.

According to a release from OPP, at approximately 12:20 p.m. police attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver refused to yield and fled southbound. Because of the public safety risk, police discontinued the pursuit, OPP said.

The driver then fled the vehicle on foot and was apprehended a short time later by police with the assistance of local residents, according to the release

Vincent Kellar, 36 years old from South Frontenac Township, Ontario, was arrested near the scene and has been charged with the following:

  • Flight from peace officer;
  • Dangerous operation;
  • Driving while under suspension;
  • Drive motor vehicle, no plates;
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance.

Kellar’s vehicle was impounded. The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston in January 2022.
