Snowmobile collision in South Frontenac results in impaired driving charges

The driver of a snowmobile involved in a collision near Moreland-Dixon Road in South Frontenac Township is facing impaired driving charges.
At approximately 11:20 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022, officers from the South Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Frontenac Fire Department and Frontenac Paramedics responded to the snowmobile collision near Moreland-Dixon Road, South Frontenac Township.
According to a release from the OPP, an investigation of the scene indicated that the driver of the snowmobile had gone off-trail. The driver was seen by Frontenac Paramedics and not transported to hospital, OPP said.
As a result of the investigation Dawson Hamilton, age 22, of Kingston has been charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Hamilton had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle towed and impounded for seven days. They were released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston in February 2022. They will be responsible for all related fees and fines.
