Slow-driving Toronto-area duo face a dozen charges

Two Toronto-area men are facing a slew of charges after a traffic stop on Highway 401 near Napanee Friday, Mar. 19, 2021.

“The officer noted a vehicle travelling at an unusually slow speed,” the OPP said in a press release.

Once the vehicle was pulled over, police observed that the men had “cannabis in plain sight” and began a search of the vehicle.

“During the search of the vehicle, the officer located approximately 13 grams of cocaine and a loaded handgun which had been reported stolen from earlier this year,” police said in the news release.

20-year-old Joshua Z. Mufuele of Whitby, and 19-year-old Benny K. Panda of Scarborough face a total of 12 counts including possession of a controlled substance, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a concealed weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Both men were slated to appear for a virtual bail hearing on Monday, March 22nd, 2021.
