Six Gaels teams secure Homecoming Weekend wins

It was an eventful and celebratory weekend for Queen’s University in more ways than one, as six of the Queen’s Gaels teams celebrated victories during Homecoming Weekend.
The Women’s Rugby Team kicked off Homecoming Weekend by winning the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Banner at Nixon Field on Friday, Oct. 19. Their 46-17 victory over the Guelph Gryphons capped off an incredible season for the team right here at home. The Men’s Rugby Team and Women’s Soccer Team both continued their undefeated seasons, and the Men’s Soccer and Women’s Hockey Teams brought home wins from their away games.
And, in true Queen’s University style, Richardson Stadium saw 4,229 fans fill the stands for the Football Team’s Homecoming game, where the Gaels rocked the York Lions 23-2 for a Homecoming victory. Read all the details on those results and more below via Queen’s Athletics.
WOMEN’S RUGBY – Homecoming delight! Gaels women’s rugby wins OUA Banner at Nixon Field 46-17 over Guelph
KINGSTON, Ont. (October 19, 2019) The No.3 Queen’s Gaels (2-0) halted the No.4 Guelph Gryphons (1-1) from extending their OUA banner streak with a decisive 46-17 win in the OUA championship from Nixon Field on homecoming weekend at Queen’s University.

MEN’S RUGBY – Gaels conclude undefeated regular season with 62-7 homecoming win over Trent
KINGSTON, Ont. (October 19, 2019) The Queen’s Gaels (6-0) finished off their OUA regular season with a 62-7 win over Trent (2-4) to stay undefeated on the season. The Gaels will now advance to the OUA playoffs where they will receive a bye for the opening round.

FOOTBALL – Gaels treat homecoming crowd to 23-2 victory over York
KINGSTON, Ont. (October 10, 2019) – The Queen’s Gaels (3-5) picked up a big homecoming victory 23-2 over the York Lions (1-7) in front of 4,229 fans at Richardson Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

WOMEN’S SOCCER – Gaels complete undefeated season with 3-2 victory over Nipissing
North Bay, Ont. (October 20, 2019) The Gaels (12-0-2) came from behind to defeat the Nipissing Lakers (8-6) 3-2 and earn their first undefeated season since 2005.

MEN’S SOCCER – Sudbury stunner, 89th-minute strike clinches Gaels playoff spot
SUDBURY, Ont. (October 19, 2019) – It was a must-win for both the Queen’s Gaels (5-7-2) and Laurentian Voyageurs (3-9-1) to keep their playoff hopes alive but it was the visiting Gaels who pulled off a second-half stunner for a 3-2 win. The victory both secures Queen’s a playoff position and eliminates Laurentian from playoff contention.

KINGSTON, Ont – (October, 19th, 2019) The Queen’s Gaels (1-1-0-0) earn their first victory of the season as they defeat the Ryerson Rams (1-1-0-0) 2-1 at the Memorial Centre on Saturday night.
