Single vehicle collision in South Frontenac results in impaired driving charges

A South Frontenac man is facing charges after his vehicle struck a rock cut on Westport Road in South Frontenac Township, Ontario.

Officers of the Sharbot Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of the single motor vehicle collision just before 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jun. 29, 2021.

According to a release from OPP, police located the driver with the vehicle on Westport Road. The investigation of the crash scene indicated that the driver of the eastbound motor vehicle left the road, struck a rock cut and came to rest in the eastbound lane.  

The driver was taken into custody and transported to the South Frontenac Detachment, OPP said. As a result, a 46-year-old man from South Frontenac has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. He was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sharbot Lake in August, 2021. He will be responsible for all related fees and fines.
