Significant rainfall possible for Kingston area

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Kingston and the area, advising of potentially significant rainfall this evening and into tomorrow morning.

The statement, issued on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019, is in effect for Kingston, Odessa, Frontenac Islands, Napanee, Consecon, Picton, and Sandbanks Park.

“A low pressure system will approach Southern Ontario from the southwest. Rain is forecast to begin this evening and end by Friday afternoon. Rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 mm are possible, with the heaviest rain occurring Thursday afternoon,” the statement reads.

“Strong westerly wind gusts of 90 km/h are possible overnight Thursday into Friday afternoon. A wind warning may be required as conditions become more certain.”

The national weather agency is advising the public to use caution when driving in areas with reduced visibility, and to remember to turn on headlights during periods of heavy rain.

    YES!!!! Always turn headlights on in bad weather rain or snow. When visibility is low tail lights must be on!
