Seizure of packages at Collins Bay Institution totals $64,000

Due to the vigilance of staff members at Collins Bay Institution, two packages were seized on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020 on the perimeter of the Maximum Security Unit.
According to a press release from Correctional Service Canada (CSC), dated Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020, the seized contraband and unauthorized items included:
- 5 cell phones,
- banana leaves
- Crystal Meth
- e-cigarette and oil
- marijuana (various quantities)
- shatter
- edible THC gummies
- tobacco, and
- 3 individual substances believed to be
methamphetamines, Hash and a methamphetamine / Cocaine / MDMA mix
The CSC says the total estimated institutional value of the this seizure is $64,000.
CSC is strengthening measures to prevent contraband items entering institutions, and also works in partnership with the police to take action against those who attempt to introduce contraband into a correctional facility.
