Seizure of $32,000 of contraband at Collins Bay Institution

A package containing contraband from a suspected throw-over was seized outside the perimeter of the maximum unit at Collins Bay institution at around 9:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12, 2020.
According to the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC), the contraband seized included:
- marijuana
- tobacco
- cigars
- two (2) cell phones
- a cell phone charger
- earbuds
- chatter card
CSC says the total estimated institutional value of this seizure is $32,630.
“CSC is heightening measures to prevent contraband from entering its institutions in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone,” the national correctional authority said in a press release on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2020. “CSC also works in partnership with the police to take action against those who attempt to introduce contraband into correctional institutions.”
