Three arrested after seizure of nearly 6000 cannabis plants in Greater Napanee

A seizure of nearly six thousand cannabis plants in Greater Napanee took place on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020, according to an OPP report.

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), along with members of the Lennox and Addington OPP Detachment, OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) and OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a warrant on September 8, 2020 at two locations on Drive Inn Road in Greater Napanee.

According to the OPP, investigators seized nearly 6000 cannabis plants, 600 pounds of cannabis shake (which is used in the production of cannabis resin), nearly $3500 Canadian currency, a van and a variety of equipment used for production of cannabis.  

Three people were arrested in the area. Charged are:

  • Jun Cheng, age 41, East York ON; and
  • Xiaopeng Yuan, age 39, of Toronto ON
  • Yun Feng Zhang, age 30, of North York ON

These accused have been charged with:

  • Cultivate, propagate or harvest more than four cannabis plants
  • Possession of proceeds obtained by crime

The accused individuals have been released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee in November 2020.
