Section of Division Street to close this weekend (Oct. 12 – 14)

Division Street will be closed from Barbara Avenue to Railway Street beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, 2018 to accommodate work related to the construct of the City of Kingston’s new fleet maintenance garage at 701 Division Street.
The stretch of Division Street will remain closed until Sunday, Oct. 14 at 11:30 p.m., according to a press release from the City.
The new facility will replace the City’s 70-year-old fleet maintenance garage, and will be certified LEED Silver, which means it is constructed to meet defined environmentally-friendly and energy-saving standards, the City said. The new facility will include rooftop solar panels, in-floor radiant heating, and energy-efficient building systems. The 4,000 square-meter facility will also have:
– 10 regular and two drive-through truck bays
– five car bays
– wash bay
– a parts room
– a welding area
– staff facilities
– administrative offices
– a bridge crane
– a fluid management system
– portable hoists
“We will be working day and night over the weekend to minimize traffic disruption as much as possible. This is part of the site-servicing work we are completing for the new City garage,” said Sheila Kidd, deputy commissioner of operations, transportation and infrastructure services for the City of Kingston.
