Second inmate death at Millhaven Regional Treatment Centre this month

A second inmate at the Regional Treatment Centre at Millhaven Institution died this month while in the custody of Correctional Service Canada (CSC).
Earlier this month an 81-year-old inmate passed away at the Regional Treatment Centre from apparent natural causes.
According to the CSC, this most recent death, an inmate by the name of Andrew Watson, occurred on Saturday, Jul. 9, 2022, two days after the previous death. The inmate was 84 years old and passed away from apparent natural causes.
At the time of death, Watson had been serving an indeterminate sentence for first-degree murder, which commenced on April 24, 2017, CSC stated.
In a media release dated Monday, Jul. 11, 2022, CSC reported that, as in all cases involving the death of an inmate, CSC will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
