Saskatchewan man arrested sleeping it off in stolen rental car

A Saskatchewan man found sleeping inside a running vehicle in Greater Napanee is facing multiple charges.
At approximately 10 p.m. in Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021 officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in an apartment parking lot off Dundas Street in Greater Napanee.
According to a release from OPP, dated Wednesday, Jan, 13, 2021, police arrived on scene and located a driver sleeping inside a running vehicle. Their investigation revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier by a rental company, and the individual was arrested at the scene.
As a result of the investigation L&A County OPP has charged Cole Leo Thomas Lariviere, age 29, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan with:
- Operation While Impaired – alcohol and drug,
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000, and;
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Fentanyl.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee in March 2021. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. Lariviere will be responsible for all related fees and fines.
