Sale of 45 Commercial Court brings $1.5 million to Napanee coffers

At its meeting on Tuesday, Jun. 27, 2023, the Council of the Town of Greater Napanee agreed to sell the Town’s former Infrastructure Services building at 45 Commercial Court for $1.5 million.
The bylaw authorizing the clerk and mayor “to perform all acts and to take such steps and execute such documents under the seal of the Corporation as may be necessary to effect such a conveyance” passed unanimously and without any discussion.
The offer was previously discussed at the closed session of Council on June 6, 2023. As is the custom per Napanee’s Sale of Land Bylaw, any offers or potential offers regarding the sale or purchase of land are to be provided to Council in closed session, but any decisions must be passed in open session.
Directors of record for the purchaser, 15053102 Canada Inc., are Chantal Lafrance and Murray Aitken of Harrowsmith. Aitken is the president of Morven Construction.
The former Infrastructure Services building was declared surplus after the Town purchased 99 Advance Avenue in Napanee as a new home for Town services. Previously, Town staff were dispersed among multiple buildings across the town, including 45 Commercial Court.
Kingstonist has reached out to the new owners for more information on their plans for the former Town building and will provide updates if/when any new information becomes available.
