Royal Military College taking precautions to prevent COVID-19 spread
The Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston is working to find alternatives to face-to-face classes and is making changes to the format of its final exams, convocation and the commissioning parade in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, says the school’s Commandant, BGen Sébastien Bouchard.
As a precaution, cadets have also been ordered to remain within the grounds of the RMC peninsula and the campus will remain closed to all outside visitors until April 6.
Services normally provided to any external civilian organizations will be cancelled and no physical conferences will be permitted.
The order also stipulates that any individuals currently travelling internationally will be required to self-isolate for 14 days from the time they return to the country to the time they return to work at RMC.
“The KMCSC is being closed to all members, but arrangements are being made to ensure N/OCdts continue to have access. The SSM will be closed until further notice, while the Cadet Mess and Chez Brucie will remain open for now,” says Commandant Bouchard’s order.
“The health and safety of members of the campus community remains and will continue to remain our top priority. We encourage everyone to exercise discretion and to follow the guidelines for illness prevention previously distributed.”
