Rideau Street stabbing results in aggravated assault charge for youth

As a result of the violent altercation on Rideau Street yesterday, one youth has been arrested and charged, while another was sent to hospital with serious injuries.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019 when a physical altercation broke out between a group of youths that knew each other. During the incident, the accused youth brandished a knife and stabbed another youth multiple times, according to Kingston Police. The accused youth fled as police responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, police found the victim on the sidewalk where he’d collapsed due to his injuries. The victim was taken to Kingston General Hospital with serious injuries.
The accused youth was located shortly thereafter at a residence in Kingston’s north end and arrested. The 14-year-old local male youth is charged with aggravated assault and possession of weapons dangerous to public peace.
