RIDE program in Tyendinaga identifies one impaired driver

One man is facing charges after a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program on Deseronto Road caught him driving while impaired.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE program on Deseronto Road near Callaghan Road in Tyendinaga Township, when a driver a showing signs of impairment, according to a release from OPP dated Thursday, May 13, 2021.

As part of the investigation, a Roadside Screening Device was administered and the driver was arrested and taken to the detachment for further testing, OPP said.

As a result of the investigation L&A County OPP have charged Michael Graham, age 73, of Greater Napanee contrary to the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation While Impaired – alcohol and drug; and,
  • Operating a motor vehicle while over legal blood alcohol limit.

Graham was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on June 1, 2021. His licence was suspended for 90 days, the vehicle was impounded for seven days, and he will be responsible for all related fees and fines.
