Reckless driving in Loyalist Township results in list of serious charges

A local driver is facing multiple charges after allegedly driving recklessly in Loyalist Township on the weekend.

According to a release from the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), police received multiple reports of a vehicle driving recklessly on Addington Street in Loyalist Township just after 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024.

“Officers attended the scene and located the driver of the vehicle who was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for further testing,” the OPP stated.

Travis Monroe, 34 years old, of Amherstview, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol/drugs
  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Stunt driving
  • Failing to ensure a child is properly secured
  • Driving while a child passenger is not properly secured
  • Driving a motor vehicle with no currently validated permit

Monroe was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee in June 2024. His licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. Monroe will be responsible for all related fees and fines.
