Reckless driver facing multiple charges after brief pursuit on Perth Road

A local man is facing multiple charges after the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) broke off the pursuit of a reckless driver in South Frontenac Township in the early morning hours of Sunday, Mar. 27, 2022.

At approximately 2:40 a.m. members from the Frontenac Detachment of the OPP were on patrol on Perth Road in South Frontenac Township and observed a northbound vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. According to a release from the OPP, police attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver refused to yield and continued on, driving recklessly. Police said that the officers did not continue due to the risk of public safety.

The police continued their search through the night, according to the release, and located the vehicle on McFadden Road where it had been involved in a lone vehicle collision with a mailbox. The driver was no longer at the scene. 

As a result of the investigation, William Seabrook, 21 years old of South Frontenac Township, was charged with the following offences:

  • Dangerous operation
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Fail to report accident
  • Fail to remain
  • Fail to report damage to fence bordering highway
  • Race a motor vehicle-Stunt

The vehicle was impounded. and Seabrook was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston in May 2022.

Police remind motorists that aggressive driving is dangerous and is a leading causal factor in fatal motor vehicle collisions on OPP patrolled roads. According to the release, the OPP targets speeders, racers/stunt drivers and other aggressive drivers through robust enforcement and public education. The OPP remains committed to saving lives on roads, waterways and trails.
