Rainfall warning issued for Kingston area

Environment Canada has issued a Rainfall Warning for Kingston, Odessa, Frontenac Islands, Napanee, Consecon, Picton and Sandbanks Park, with an expectation of significant rainfall beginning on Sunday.

Precipitation associated with an approaching low pressure system is expected to move into Eastern Ontario Sunday and persist until Monday morning. The precipitation may begin as snow before changing to rain in some areas.

Environment Canada says total rainfall amounts of 20 to 40 mm are possible. Because the ground is still at least partially frozen over much of Eastern Ontario, it will have a limited ability to absorb this rainfall, making flooding and localized ponding in low-lying areas and on roads possible.
