Rainfall warning in effect for Kingston and Prince Edward County

Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for Kingston and the area as of 3:34 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, 2020.
The warning is in effect for the Kingston, Odessa, Frontenac Islands, Napanee, Consecon, Picton, and Sandbanks Park areas.
“Persons in or near this area should be on the lookout for adverse weather conditions and take necessary safety precautions,” the national weather agency said.
Environment Canada is forecasting periods of drizzle mixed with rain from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., then changing to rain at 10 p.m., which is expected to last throughout the day Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb water, so localized flooding in low-laying areas is possible. Total rainfall amounts over the weekend are expected to be anywhere from 25 to 50 mm.
At the same time, fog is settling in in some areas, particularly in Napanee and the surrounding area.
Please exercise caution when driving, and ensure your headlights are on to increase the visibility of your vehicle to other drivers.
