Queen’s Men’s Rugby Team earns national bronze, several Gaels teams remain undefeated

It was another jam-packed weekend for the Queen’s Gaels, bringing in a lot of great results — not the least of which was the Men’s Rugby Team bringing home the national bronze.

The Men’s Rugby Team took on the hosting Concordia Stingers at the Canadian University Men’s Rugby Championship in Montreal on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019. After a tough match, the Gaels finished victorious, 31-22, for the national bronze title, their second national medal in as many years at the Championship.

Elsewhere, the Men’s and Women’s Volleyball teams, along with the Women’s Hockey and Men’s Basketball teams, all went undefeated through a weekend that also saw the Men’s Hockey Team host a Teddy Bear Toss game at the Memorial Centre. The Teddy Bear Toss brought in over 300 teddy bears and $1,000 to be donated to the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation.

MEN’S RUGBY – Gaels earn national bronze with 31-22 win over host Concordia
MONTREAL (November 24, 2019) – The Ontario champion No.2 Queen’s Gaels defeated the Quebec champion and hosts No.4 Concordia Stingers 31-22 in the Canadian University Men’s Rugby Championship (CUMRC) bronze medal match.

MEN’S HOCKEY – Successful teddy bear toss night sees Gaels fall 1-0 to McGill, pick up win at RMC
KINGSTON, Ont. (November 23, 2019) – The Queen’s Gaels (6-9-0) fell to McGill (8-5-1) 1-0 on Saturday night at the Memorial Centre. Despite the loss the Gaels executed a successful Teddy Bear toss theme with fans throwing Bears onto the ice in the third period.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY – Watkins Southward scores winner as Gaels earn 2-1 win over No.10 Lakers, Queen’s sweeps northern opponents NORTH BAY, Ont. (November 23, 2019) – The Queen’s Gaels (7-4-1-0) earned their second win in less than 24 hours as they defeated the No.10 Nipissing Lakers (8-3-0-0) in OUA women’s hockey action on Saturday afternoon.

MEN’S BASKETBALL – Gaels defeat Ryerson for first time since 2010 snapping 20 game losing streak against Rams
KINGSTON, Ont. (November 23, 2019) – The Queen’s Gaels (6-4) took down the Ryerson Rams (4-4) 82-73 on Saturday night in OUA men’s basketball from the Queen’s ARC.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL – Weltz career highs of 21 points and five steals leads No.7 Gaels to 83-76 win over Toronto, Queen’s drops contest to Ryerson
KINGSTON, Ont. (November 22, 2019) – The No.7 Queen’s Gaels (6-3) survived a late comeback to defeat the Toronto Varsity Blues (0-7) 83-76 at the Queen’s ARC in Kingston on Friday night in women’s basketball action.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL – Colpitts sets career-high with 45 assists as Gaels win 3-1 over Lakehead while Gaels also win at RMC THUNDER BAY, Ont. (November 23, 2019) The Queen’s Gaels (5-3) defeated the Lakehead Thunderwolves (1-7) 3-1 Saturday evening in OUA women’s volleyball action.
